Job Description 

The City of Tshwane has embarked on an initiative to improve and expand access to healthcare services in communities and households. The City invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for 16 Contract Staff Nurse positions across all regions.

This is an excellent opportunity for registered nurses to contribute to primary healthcare service delivery.

Contract Details

16 Contract Positions Available
Remuneration: R21 234 per month
Location: All Regions, City of Tshwane
Working Hours: 07:30 to 16:00, Monday to Friday
Contract Duration: Fixed term contract through City of Tshwane

Key Responsibilities

Provide basic nursing care and treatment to patients with stable and uncomplicated health conditions.Provide healthcare to patients with complicated problems under supervision of a Professional Nurse.

Perform basic emergency care and health assessments through observation and measurements.Develop nursing care plans and manage delegated nursing care including weighing patients, taking vital signs, testing urine, blood glucose, and conducting pregnancy tests.

Administer intramuscular injections, provide wound care, and issue family planning medication.Conduct health education sessions, provide HIV/AIDS counselling, and maintain accurate patient records.Capture daily data on the minimum data set and update health information displays.Perform basic reception duties including filing client records and managing clinic enquiries.

Minimum Requirements

Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Staff Nurse. Proof required.Working experience at primary healthcare facilities will be advantageous.No criminal record or dismissal for misconduct at any previous workplace.Must undergo a criminal record check and allow fingerprints to be taken by Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost.

Skills RequiredKnowledge of primary healthcare protocols and nursing scope of practice.Strong communication and patient care skills.Ability to work in community and clinic settings.Accuracy in record keeping and data capturing.
