About the Role & Key Responsibilities of IT Auditor

As an IT Auditor, you will be responsible for providing independent assurance on PRASA’s technology environment. Your work will directly influence how PRASA manages risk, complies with regulations like PFMA and King IV, and protects critical infrastructure from cyber threats.

• Plan, execute, and report on IT General Controls (ITGC) audits, cybersecurity reviews, application control assessments, and ICT project audits across PRASA Group and subsidiaries
• Conduct audits in strict alignment with IIA International Standards and approved audit methodologies
• Support audit managers with detailed reporting, documentation, workpaper review, and audit administration
• Monitor and follow up on management action plans to ensure timely closure of audit findings
• Stay ahead of emerging technology risks, cybersecurity threats, cloud risks, and regulatory developments affecting the transport sector
• Contribute to continuous improvement of audit methodologies, data analytics tools, and automation of audit testing using ACL/Arbutus and TeamMate
• Build strong working relationships with IT management, cybersecurity teams, and business stakeholders

Minimum Requirements for IT Auditor Job

• Bachelor’s Degree in Internal Auditing, Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field – NQF Level 7 minimum
• Active progress toward professional certifications: CISA, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent
• Valid South African driver’s license with reliable transport
• Membership with IIA, SAICA, or ISACA is required

Required Experience & Technical Knowledge

• Minimum 5 years hands-on experience conducting ITGC audits, cybersecurity reviews, application controls, and ICT project assurance audits
• Strong working knowledge of IT governance and risk frameworks: COBIT 2019, ISO 27001, NIST CSF, ITIL 4, and CIS Controls v8
• Practical understanding of network security, Windows/Linux operating systems, database security, and information security controls
• Proven experience auditing SAP ERP environments including SAP GRC modules
• Advanced proficiency in audit management and analytics tools: TeamMate, ACL Analytics, Arbutus Analyzer, SQL scripting
• Knowledge of PFMA, King IV Report on Corporate Governance, and public sector compliance requirements

Preferred Qualifications That Will Give You an Edge

Candidates with the following will be prioritized: Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), COBIT Certification, ITIL 4 Foundation, Project Management Professional (PMP), CompTIA Security+, and advanced SQL/Scripting certifications. Prior SAP audit experience in large public entities is highly advantageous.
