Main Purpose of the Job of Emergency Resource Officer Call Taker

To receive and prioritize emergency and non-emergency telephone calls from the public by dispatching the relevant emergency service providers quickly and accurately. You will deliver world-class service to Mediclinic patients, clinicians, and general callers by resolving queries through telephone and digital channels. This is a high-pressure, high-reward role for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities of Emergency Resource Officer Call Taker

• Answer, assess, and transfer incoming emergency calls within seconds
• Prioritize calls based on medical urgency and dispatch appropriate EMS resources
• Capture accurate caller and patient information under pressure
• Provide calm, professional telephonic support to distressed callers
• Perform basic contact centre administration and data capturing
• Serve all key stakeholders telephonically and via email until query resolution
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HPCSA and ER24 protocols

Required Education of Emergency Resource Officer Call Taker

• Essential: Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
• Essential: 1-Year Post-Matric Certificate in Contact Centre – NQF Level 5
• Desired: BAA / Level 3 First Aid Certification

Required Experience of Emergency Resource Officer Call Taker

• Essential: Contact Centre or Emergency Contact Centre exposure
• Essential: Minimum 2 years omnichannel customer service in healthcare or emergency services environment
• Desired: 1-3 years dispatching experience in EMS contact centre

Required Skills & Knowledge / Emergency Resource Officer Call Taker

Technical: Computer literate – Microsoft Office, Typing skills 30+ WPM, Dispatching of vehicles, EMS environment knowledge, Geographic locations of Gauteng
