Core Responsibilities
1. Infrastructure Support: Ensure implementation of infrastructure and hardware support. Install and support Telkom data lines, routers, switches, firewalls, and IDS/IPS.
2. Server & Systems: Ensure installation and support of Servers in the centre. Facilitate application/system support in the district municipality.
3. End User Support: Support online verification scanners, fingerprint scanners, desktops, printers, laptops, cameras, signature pads, and MDF-Scan flow printers.
4. Asset & Compliance: Maintain IT asset registers. Facilitate disposal of IT assets. Ensure implementation of effective risk and compliance in the unit.
5. Management: Coordinate IT requirements with Head Office. Manage human, physical and financial resources. Coach and guide staff on best practices and compliance.
Minimum Requirements for Government IT Jobs
- Qualification: Undergraduate qualification in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, ICT, or Computer Engineering at NQF Level 6 as recognised by SAQA.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in IT environment. Experience in desktop, network, server and application support.
- Knowledge: GITO Guidelines, Minimum Information Security Standards, Protection of Information Act, PAIA, SITA Act, ITIL.
- License: Valid driver’s license. Willingness to work extended hours.
- Advantage: ITIL Foundation Certificate
