Role Summary – Netcare Switchboard Operator

The Switchboard Operator is the first point of contact for patients, visitors and staff. Responsible for answering high volume of incoming calls professionally, routing calls correctly, and providing essential hospital information.

Minimum Requirements – Netcare Switchboard Operator

• Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 qualification
• Basic computer proficiency
• 1-2 years experience in similar position
• Customer service experience preferred
• Disability certificate – this position is for differently enabled candidates only

Key Responsibilities for Netcare Switchboard Operator

• Answer all incoming hospital calls in timely, professional manner
• Direct calls to departments, doctor rooms or wards
• Provide information on hospital services, visiting hours and directions
• Take and deliver messages to staff members
• Manage basic patient queries and escalate when needed
• Maintain patient confidentiality per POPIA compliance
• Update hospital telephone lists and contingency plans
• Assist with basic administrative tasks when required
