The Department of Internal Audit at University of Limpopo provides independent assurance and consulting services to help the University achieve its objectives. The Junior Internal Auditor will interact at all levels throughout the department and University. This role offers exposure to risk management, digital controls, cybersecurity and governance in a higher education environment.

Minimum Requirements for Junior Internal Auditor 2026
- National Diploma in Internal Audit – Compulsory requirement
- Minimum 2 years experience in administrative services, internal auditing or finance = Added advantage
- Experience in audit environment would be an advantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with audit software such as Highbond = Added advantage
- South African ID or valid Passport
- Matric/Grade 12 certificate + academic transcripts

Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of digital controls, cybersecurity principles and risk management
- High analytical skills and ability to explain complex technical issues simply
- Proficiency in audit methodologies, tools and techniques
- Ability to use spreadsheet software for tables, graphs and charts in reports
- Internet savvy for online research on department policies and procedures
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – must interact at all levels
- Good human resource skills, motivational and persuasive abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of audit team
- Detail-oriented with strong logical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrate initiative and thrive in challenging goal-oriented environment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Knowledge Requirements
- Knowledge of sorting/filing techniques and records retention policies
- Knowledge of proper spelling, grammar and punctuation for error-free reports
- Knowledge of electronic calendaring programs like Microsoft Outlook and Gmail
- Understanding of University policies, procedures and resources
- Knowledge of internal control frameworks and risk assessment methods
