Key Duties and Responsibilities of Assets Administrator Jobs 2026
Fixed Asset Verification and Register Management
- Assist in physical verification of fixed assets across various divisions and locations
- Tag and label assets in accordance with GEMS Scheme policy
- Update fixed asset register with verified information
- Record location, condition, custodian and asset number details
- Contribute to preparation and consolidation of quarterly assets verification report
- Maintain accurate, complete and up-to-date documentation supporting verifications
Documentation and Compliance
- File, archive and retrieve documents per GEMS document management policy
- Ensure accessibility during audits or compliance reviews
- Apply strong technical knowledge of accounting principles and standards
- Work with IFRS or GRAP standards for asset verification
- Implement and maintain compliance controls per GEMS governance frameworks
- Ensure alignment with Medical Schemes Act requirements
System and Project Support
- Contribute to implementation of fixed assets management system
- Support Finance Controller Accounting in fixed assets related projects
- Maintain sound understanding of general ledger GL operations
- Assist with journal postings, ledgers balancing and closing procedures
- Support planning and execution of asset management initiatives
Minimum Requirements for Assets Administrator Jobs 2026
- Qualification: National Certificate/Diploma in Accounting or similar NQF Level 5 – Compulsory
- Experience: Minimum 1-2 years experience in Finance Environment
- Prior experience in asset management, inventory or finance administration advantageous
- Experience using accounting or asset management systems advantageous
- Medical Aid industry experience desirable
- Knowledge of IFRS or GRAP accounting standards
- South African citizen or valid work permit
