The Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) is the National Curriculum that is taught in most schools across South Africa. CAPS is not a new curriculum, it is an amendment to the National Curriculum Statement.

Important notes for parents and guardians
If you plan to homeschool your children, you should register with the Provincial Education Department (PED) and follow the conditions the Department of Basic Education sets.
Your children must complete all assignments/tests/exams for a comprehensive portfolio of work. If your child is learning through a tuition centre, the centre must ensure that when your children return to a mainstream school, they retain their portfolio to present.
For Grades 10–12, we comply completely with the recognised requirements for formal assessments that form the basis for school-based assessment marks required to pass.
You must register your children for a complete grade.
