Job Description
The University of Pretoria, one of South Africa’s top research universities, invites applications for Administrative Officer – Student Accounts in the Department of Finance.This is a permanent full-time position at Peromnes Post Level 10, Job ID 26411.
Key Responsibilities
Adjust tuition and examination fees to the year of re-registration and provide accurate account balances to students.Process adjustments on finalist accounts three months before graduation to ensure accurate statements mailed with invitations.
Forward completed forms to Student Service Centre to schedule student pay-outs.Refund unused Fundi loans to Fundi and verify payments on proof of payment remark lists.
Hand over accounts with debit balances to Collections after students discontinue or complete studies.Handle telephone, written and personal enquiries from Distance Education students regarding refunds, balances, and statements.
Respond timeously to emails, acknowledge receipt and provide professional feedback to students.Deliver service within agreed timelines and maintain cordial client relations at all times.
Minimum Requirements
Relevant National 3-year Diploma with accounting OR Grade 12 with pass in accounting.2 years experience with Diploma OR 4 years experience with Grade 12 in financial environment.Experience in student administration preferred.
Skills and Competencies
Administration of distance education student accounts and knowledge of financial systems like PeopleSoft.Knowledge of student funding processes, accounting processes and reporting.Computer literacy in MS Word, MS Excel and email packages.Report writing, analysis of transactions and attention to detail.Strong communication skills, ability to be proactive and meet deadlines.
Added Advantages
Degree with accounting as subject and 3 years experience in student funds or bursary administration.Experience in higher education environment will be advantageous.
