The Clicks Komatipoort branch is expanding its team and is looking for 10 dedicated Shop Assistants / Cashiers to join the store operations.

Position Summary of Shop Assistant Cashier x10 Clicks Komatipoort

This is a permanent full-time position based at Clicks Komatipoort in Mpumalanga. As a Shop Assistant / Cashier, you will be the face of Clicks. Your role is critical in delivering service excellence through efficient customer service, point of sale operations, and merchandising activities. You will ensure every customer who walks into the store has a positive shopping experience and leaves feeling valued. This position is ideal for candidates with Grade 12 who want to start or grow their career in retail/FMCG. No previous experience required as full training will be provided, though retail experience is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities / Job Objectives / Shop Assistant Cashier x10 Clicks Komatipoort

To succeed in this role, you will be responsible for multiple operational and customer-facing duties:

• Point of Sale Operations: Efficiently execute all operational activities at the point of sale in a timely and accurate manner. This includes scanning merchandise, processing transactions, and handling different payment methods including cash, card, and mobile payments.
• Cash Handling: Maintain high levels of accuracy when collecting payment for goods purchased. Ensure the safe handling of cash at all times, follow till reconciliation procedures, and minimize discrepancies at end of shift.
• Clubcard Promotion: Proactively promote the Clicks Clubcard to every customer. Enroll new Clubcard members and educate existing members on rewards and benefits to achieve monthly participation targets.
• Customer Service Excellence: Deliver superior customer service by acting as a brand ambassador. Be visible on the shop floor, greet customers warmly, offer assistance, and provide professional service that makes customers “feel good and pay less”.
• Promotions & Sales: Make customers aware of current promotions, specials, and loyalty offers. Use product knowledge to upsell and positively affect sales targets for the store.
• Merchandising: Efficiently execute and maintain all merchandising and general housekeeping duties according to store and visual merchandise standards. This includes shelf stocking, facing, cleaning, and ensuring products are displayed correctly.
• Product Knowledge: Maintain updated knowledge on products, ranges, promotions, and events. Attend product training sessions and use this knowledge to provide correct information to customers at all times.
• Stock Management: Support stock management procedures including receiving deliveries, checking stock levels, and reporting damages or discrepancies to management.

Knowledge & Skills Required for Shop Assistant Cashier x10 Clicks Komatipoort

Knowledge: Basic maths calculations for till work and discounts. Understanding of retail/FMCG background, merchandising principles, and promotions. Knowledge of stock management procedures and customer service excellence standards.

Skills: Strong planning and organising skills to handle busy store periods. Problem-solving skills to resolve customer queries quickly. Strong customer orientation with a friendly attitude. Good communication skills in English and local languages. Computer literacy for POS system operations. Numeracy skills for accurate cash handling.

Minimum Requirements of Shop Assistant Cashier x10 Clicks Komatipoort

Education: Grade 12 certificate is essential. Maths 50% and English 50% at Grade 12 level is desirable but not compulsory.

Experience: No experience required. Desirable: Previous experience in a customer-facing role within a retail or FMCG store operations environment. Candidates with no experience but good attitude will be trained.

Other: Must be willing to work retail hours including weekends and public holidays. Must comply with Clicks employment equity policies as this is an EE position.
